"Yer Petty," she told him as though he might not know. "You joined the guild not all that long ago."

Adjusting herself upon the rail, she made no offer of further help as she watched him struggle with the wound at hand.

"If ya ain't gonna leave, you better get comfortable then," she told him abruptly, hopping down from the rail and wandering back into the room. "And I make no guarantee another stunt like this won't happen, when the raven calls yer supposed to die." she informed him, removing her cloak and tossing it in the corner as she prepared to tidy up what she could.

Subconsciously stretching out her wings and rustling them a bit to shake off any dust particles, Karli rubbed her throbbing head before reaching down and tipping the broken table onto it's back. Bracing herself, she laid a shoulder against one of the remaining legs and began pushing the cumbersome piece of lumber towards the balcony.

What an outburst, she muttered inwardly, shaking her head. From what little she had learnt from occupying the building had never prepared her for such a stint. She had come to expect most anything however. After her many failed attempts to explore the basement, she had more then confirmed to herself that this place was far from predictable...

Now on top of all that I have this one to wonder about, she continued to think to herself, turning her gaze to Petty a moment to check his progress on that leg.

Should I tell him the game's up? or do I continue to let him think his secret's safe?

The table came to a jarring halt as it hit the balcony rails and Karli stood herself up and walked mechanically back towards the pile.

He could just be like me. Escaped that pit of a place for something better; or he could have been sent by Ifner or any number of morons that world spawned and I had the pleasure of displeasing...

Back at the pile once more, she sifted through the smaller debris, separating the books for the garbage, taking a moment to check the state of each tome before laying it aside.

I could easily just out and be done with it, if he's bounty hunting natives for the Ice Birds or the Lords of Byron...

Having picked out every book, Karli dusted off the top one before resting her elbows on her bent knees and turning a predatory set of eyes towards Petty.

"How much they offering you to do this?" she demanded, bringing her hand to her sickle at her side slowly.

Having been ripped away from his thoughts by the sudden outburst, Petty moved his eyes from his leg to meet with that of Karli’s gaze.

What is she on about…..

"Offering to do what? Get nearly killed? I am not here for a purpose which is payable for, if you must know, I will tell you how I got here, just watch that hand."

More questions and problems....

Petty drew himself up to standing height and began to wrap the scrap of cloth around his head to cover the wound which lay there.

"First, I am surprise you never enquired about how I came about to be behind a locked door which getting behind would need me to fly. I was brought here by a Phantom Bat which I had little control over, it landed in your bell tower and vanished…"

Having tied the cloth, Petty then crouched down to set about replacing his left boot.

"What purpose do you believe I could be here for, which could include a good coin at the end?" Petty inquired of Karli, as he didn’t budge his eyes from the boot.

Karli stayed in her crouching position, ready to spring in any direction should the need arise. Surveying Petty as he spoke, she felt he was telling the truth about the bat, however he wasn't offering enough information to lay her assumptions to rest. Watching him silently for a few minutes, she finally drew herself into a stand, flaring her wings wide as she stared down at him in his sitting position.

"You have the slight taint of accent in yer voice," she told him. "If you've been sent to Cosrin to collect those of like background, you won't be collecting me or mine," she informed him, pulling her robber's mask from her back pocket and pulling it on swiftly.

Accent…..only place I could pick up accent is my family or them…….have they took more than me from their family’s?

"Rest assured, I am not a collector of anything but knowledge, I have no interest in collecting you" Petty said not removing his eyes from his boot as he placed his foot into it.

Standing to his full height, Petty turned to Karli. "I believe my accent can be accounted to time in service to my last masters," he said while turning to the door and making his way to it unconcerned with Karli’s aggressive stance.
